‘Lying carpet’ at Karlovy Vary IFF’ new industry programme

‘Lying carpet’,  a new docu-fiction project by Aleš Suk and Željka Suková, is selected for pitching at new industry programme of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (1. – 9. July), Eurimages Lab Project Award.

It will be one of eight selected projects that introduce innovation to the form and the content of film. The award for the best project is 50.000 €, upon the decision of the international jury consisting  of Karin Schockweiler (member of the Creative Europe-Media committee and Deputy Director Film Fund Luxemburg), Kim Yutani (Sundance Film Festival) and Meinolf Zurhorst (ARTE).

‘Lying carpet’ deals with the world constructed on lies, questioning the thin border between truth and mystification we all live in. Željka and Aleš Suk wrote the script and are directing the film, Aleš is also a cinematographer, while the producer is awarded Slovakian filmmaker Peter Kerekes. The music is composed by Petr Marek, a member of Czech electro underground bend Midi Lidi which collaborated with UKUS on their previous successful docu-fiction „Marija’s Own“.

The shooting is planned for late summer while the film should be finished until winter 2017. The project already won the support from Creative Europe – Media programme, Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Foundation Kultura nova. The aim is to win the funds for shooting and postproduction at the  Eurimages Lab Project Award.
